Migori Teachers College History

Migori Teachers College was established in 1982 and officially inaugurated in 1983 by the immediate former Head of State, Hon.

Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.The college stands on a 42 acrage piece of land donated by the local community. The college started as a secondary school in early 60s, and then grew in a senior secondary school. In 1982, the government transformed it into a college with the first principal as Mr. M. Wambua.The college started by admitting 450 students. The student population is currently 535 first years and 490 second years, which totals to 1,025 i.e. 518 females and 507 males.Our academic staff population is currently 67, comprising a zealous crop of lecturers whose commendable efforts are boosted by those of an equally dedicated team of 54 non-teaching staff.The college management board comprises of 13 eminent persons under the vibrant stewardship of Mr. Hezron Saggia, a retired Civil Servant from the Ministry of Finance.
